Mercado da Taipa

Located in the heart of Taipa Village, the newly renovated Mercado da Taipa (Taipa Market ) has evolved beyond a traditional wet market into a vibrant gastronomic, cultural and creative destination. Following a comprehensive revitalization project by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), the market’s first floor and rooftop terrace have been transformed into a bustling “food, cultural, and creative zone.”

The revamped space features over 20 distinct stalls, carefully selected to offer a curated mix of creative cuisine, artisanal coffee, and unique cultural products. Set against a backdrop of Portuguese-inspired architecture and colourful Macao street motifs, the market now serves as a lively community hub. It offers air-conditioned indoor seating and open-air spaces, making it an ideal chill-out spot for residents and tourists alike. Whether you are looking for a quick grab-and-go snack, a place to shop for local handicrafts, or a relaxing venue for social gatherings, the new Taipa Market brings a fresh wave of energy and life to the neighborhood.

Among the diverse culinary lineup, four standout takeaway stores are redefining the grab-and-go experience with their creative menus:

Yue Wang: Bringing a taste of Southeast Asia to the market, Yue Wang specialises  in authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Their highlight is the Banh Mi, a crispy French baguette stuffed with savoury fillings, which pairs perfectly with their comforting bowls of traditional Vietnam noodles, offering a fresh and zesty option for lunch or dinner.

Choco Egg: A paradise for dessert lovers, this stall elevates the humble waffle into a gourmet treat. They offer an exciting array of flavours that cater to both sweet and savoury palates, including Chocolate, Matcha, and the locally inspired Egg Tart flavour. For those seeking something unique, the Sakura Shrimp waffle provides a delightful umami twist.

Burger Workshop: This spot is a must-visit for carnivores seeking premium quality in a casual setting. Their menu features indulgent combinations such as the rich and creamy Peanut and Wagyu Burger and the aromatic Black Truffle and Wagyu Burger. Fusion enthusiasts will also appreciate their unique creation blending Australian Wagyu with Japanese cod roe.

Soul Sauce: Rounding out the selection is Soul Sauce, a trendy spot known for its inventive snacks and speciality drinks. They offer hearty sandwiches alongside their signature creative clog waffles with black sesame, red bean and other flavours, offering a fun and filling option that is perfect for enjoying on the market’s breezy rooftop terrace.
